The Ministry of Education has formulated a policy allowing MPO-listed private madrasa teachers to correct their age in official records. Several officials from the Technical and Madrasa Education Division of the Ministry confirmed the development today, Wednesday (April 22).

Speaking to The Daily Campus, officials stated, "A policy has been drafted for the correction of madrasa teachers' age. It has been submitted to the Education Minister’s office for approval. Once approved, a formal letter will be sent to the Directorate of Madrasa Education, and the policy will be published on the website. However, teachers will not receive any retrospective financial benefits following the age correction."

It has been reported that in response to long-standing demands from MPO-listed teachers, the government has already formulated a transfer policy, paving the way for teachers to be transferred to their home districts. While school and college teachers are currently awaiting transfers as their policy and software are live, madrasa teachers had previously felt overlooked. Now, their transfer policy is also finalized and awaiting the Education Minister’s signature, alongside the age correction policy.

Currently, madrasa teachers must apply manually for age corrections. Even as recently as this month, the Ministry of Education issued a letter to the Directorate of Madrasa Education providing instructions for manual applications. However, this method may be phased out once the new policy is approved.

An official from the Ministry of Education, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The Daily Campus, "A policy has been created to provide the opportunity for age correction. This can be considered good news for teachers. Although there are no direct financial benefits, the process facilitates other administrative requirements."

The official added, "The file is currently at the Education Minister’s office. Once signed, a formal notification and instructions will be issued and uploaded to the website."

There are currently 8,229 MPO-listed madrasas in the country, including 5,767 Dakhil, 1,285 Alim, 993 Fazil, and 184 Kamil madrasas. Approximately 120,000 teachers and employees are working in these institutions.
