3 More Die with Measles Symptoms in Bangladesh, Death Toll Reaches 840

Three more people have died with measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the 24 hours leading up to Saturday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). No deaths from confirmed measles cases were recorded during this period.

With the latest fatalities, the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms in the country this year has risen to 840. Among the deceased, 96 deaths were officially confirmed as measles, while 744 individuals passed away exhibiting symptoms of the viral infection.

The health bulletin released on Saturday noted that the three latest symptomatic deaths were reported from Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh divisions, with one fatality recorded in each region between 8:00 AM Friday and 8:00 AM Saturday.

Additionally, 121 new measles cases were officially confirmed nationwide within the same 24-hour window, bringing the total number of confirmed infections this year to 16,180.

Health authorities also detected 751 new patients exhibiting measles-like symptoms during the same period. With these new cases, the cumulative tally of suspected measles infections in Bangladesh has reached 129,061.
