After Hamza Choudhury and Samit, another overseas-born talent is ready to represent the red-and-green of Bangladesh. Kasper Hok, a towering centre-back born in Lithuania and raised in England, will play for Red & Green Future Stars in the upcoming Latin Bangla Super Cup.

The 6ft 2in defender, who idolises Sergio Ramos, dreams of one day lining up alongside his friend Zayan Rahman and idol Hamza Choudhury in the senior Bangladesh national team.

This is Kasper’s second visit to Bangladesh in six months. In June, he arrived in Dhaka for the Bangladesh U-23 team trials but could not participate due to passport issues. Those hurdles were cleared last month, and now he is fully eligible and eager to take the field.

Speaking to reporters, Kasper said: “I came for the trials in June but couldn’t play because I didn’t have my passport then. Now everything is ready. I can’t wait to play for Bangladesh. My father always encourages me, and seeing Hamza has given me even more inspiration. I hope very soon I’ll be on the same pitch with him.”

Currently playing for Woodley United in the eighth tier of English football, Kasper sees the Latin Bangla Super Cup – where his team will face Brazilian and Argentine clubs – as the perfect stage to prove himself.

“I know this is a big opportunity to show what I can do. I’m fully prepared and ready to give my absolute best,” he added.

Kasper’s father, Ehsanul Hok, is Bangladeshi, while his mother is Russian. Due to a tight schedule, he won’t be able to visit his ancestral village in Savar this time.

Three other diaspora players are also part of the Red & Green Future Stars squad for the tournament.
