Although the results of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were originally scheduled for release on July 20, the publication has been deferred by a few days due to administrative preoccupations and complex operational challenges surrounding the ongoing HSC examinations. Education boards are now gearing up to release the results in the final week of July. Additionally, the Inter-Education Board will finalize the guidelines next week regarding the special compensatory retests for three specific HSC papers.

Confirming the development to The Daily Campus on Saturday (July 18), Professor Syed Akteruzzaman, President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, outlined the current administrative bottleneck.

"It is not possible to release the results on July 20," Professor Akteruzzaman stated. "Due to various complications regarding the HSC exams, we could not finalize the result preparation. We are currently working toward publishing the results by the end of this month."

He added that while initial directives mandated full preparation by July 20, unfavorable circumstances hindered execution. However, result processing is entering its final stages, and publication remains guaranteed within this month.

Coordination on Missing Candidates and Specific Papers

The government had previously announced that any HSC candidate across the country who missed any paper due to hostile weather or unavoidable circumstances would be accommodated. These students will sit for their evaluations under an identical question paper framework, synchronized with the rescheduled dates of the suspended Chittagong Education Board.

Beyond this blanket accommodation, the Ministry of Education announced a special window for three specific HSC subjects held during severe weather conditions on July 13: Physics (Theoretical) First Paper, Accounting First Paper, and Logic First Paper. Board officials noted that candidates who were absent from these three specific exams on July 13 are highly likely to receive the opportunity to sit for the makeup tests.

However, the exact eligibility criteria for these retests, application modalities, and execution frameworks have not yet been finalized.

"If the retests are organized using identical question papers alongside the Chittagong Education Board, interested examinees might be given the opportunity to participate. However, a final decision on this matter is pending," clarified Professor Syed Akteruzzaman.

A high-level meeting between the Ministry of Education and the Inter-Education Board is scheduled for next week, after which detailed instructions will be formally disseminated to the public.

Madrasah Board Nears Completion

Reassuring candidates from the specialized streams, Professor Khondoker Mohammad Sadequr Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, told The Daily Campus that their theoretical evaluations are nearing conclusion.

"The Madrasah Board exams are in their final stages. Decisions regarding the suspended exams will be taken within next week. The flood situation in Chittagong will also be thoroughly reviewed. We will try our best to schedule the remaining dates in a way that minimizes student suffering," Professor Rahman said.

Regarding the Dakhil results, he added that their processing is largely complete, requiring only two to three more days of administrative wrapping. Once finalized, the evaluation report will be submitted to the Ministry of Education to secure an official release date, which is also firmly projected to fall within this month.
