Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon has announced that Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent candidates outside the Chittagong Education Board who failed to participate in their scheduled exams due to the recent hostile weather will be allowed to sit for makeup evaluations. These compensatory examinations will be synchronized with the rescheduled timeline of the suspended Chittagong Education Board and will be conducted using identical question papers.

The Education Minister made the announcement during a session in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) on Wednesday (July 15). He explained that the ministry will not arrange isolated, separate examinations for missing students across different regions; instead, their tests will be integrated into the upcoming Chittagong Board schedule to ensure uniform assessment standards.

Administrative Scope and Exam Statistics

Detailing the background of the crisis, the minister noted that torrential downpours and severe waterlogging had initially forced the absolute suspension of examinations in five districts under the Chittagong Education Board, including Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Khagrachhari, Rangamati, and Bandarban. However, recognizing that candidates in Dhaka and various other districts also missed their respective papers due to unavoidable weather disruptions, the ministry decided to extend this special accommodation nationwide. Affected students can appear for their missed subjects on the specific dates and times to be designated by the education ministry.

Highlighting the massive scale of the ongoing public examinations across the country, the minister informed the parliament that a total of 1,270,583 candidates are currently participating across 2,697 examination centers. He emphasized that because these public board examinations represent an exceptionally critical milestone in the academic life of students, the government is providing this special consideration to safeguard their futures and eliminate any potential academic discrepancies.

Action Taken Over Physics Question Paper Blunder

Addressing the widespread institutional criticism regarding the errors discovered in the Physics First Paper examination held earlier this week, Dr. Milon confirmed to the house that the individuals responsible for drafting the flawed question paper have already been temporarily suspended from their posts.

The minister firmly reassured anxious candidates, teachers, and guardians that no student will face any academic disadvantage due to the technical oversight in the question setup, reiterating his previous administrative directive that full compensatory marks will be automatically awarded to all examinees for questions 6 and 7.
