In a significant move to eliminate session jams from the country’s education system, the Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister, Dr. Ehsanul Haq Milton, has announced that the 2027 SSC and equivalent examinations will be moved forward to December of this year. This decision aims to restore the academic calendar, which was disrupted following the pandemic and recent political shifts.

The Minister shared this information with journalists on Saturday (April 25) following a meeting at the Secretariat regarding the transfer policy for teachers and employees of MPO-listed educational institutions. If implemented, the SSC examinations will be held at least four months earlier than the previous schedule.

Minister Milton emphasized his commitment to removing the "curse of session jams" from students' lives. He noted that the examination schedules had become disorganized over the past few years, and moving the exams to December 2026 is a strategic step to bring the academic cycle back to its natural rhythm.

Furthermore, the Minister confirmed that the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations would also be moved forward accordingly. However, he did not specify a exact starting date for the HSC exams at this time. He reiterated that the government is determined to ensure that students do not lose valuable time from their academic lives due to administrative or situational delays.
