Authorities of Dhaka University (DU) have fixed a tentative date for the postponed admission test of Science Unit under undergraduate programme for the 2025-26 academic session. The date was fixed in a meeting held this afternoon today Saturday (20 December). The test date and time will be formally announced today if Vice-Chancellor gives approval.

Multiple sources from the meeting said a tentative date has been fixed in the meeting. Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan is busy with janaza and burial-related works of Inqilab Moncho convener Sharif Osman Bin Hadi. The admission test date and time will be announced today once his approval is received.

Multiple sources said plans are being made to hold the test in the current month itself.

Earlier on Friday (19 December), a press release from the university said Dhaka University will observe a mourning day on Saturday as part of the one-day state mourning over the death of former student Sharif Osman Hadi.

‘As a tribute to brave July fighter Sharif Osman Hadi and all July fighters and martyrs who participated in the 2024 mass uprising, the admission test for the first year undergraduate programme of Science Unit for the 2025-2026 academic session of Dhaka University, scheduled to be held tomorrow Saturday (20 December), has been postponed. The schedule for the postponed admission test will be announced soon.’

Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, convener of Inqilab Moncho undergoing treatment in Singapore, died on Thursday night (18 December). Later that night, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in his address to the nation announced state mourning on Saturday (20 December) over Hadi's death. Considering the observance of mourning and the death of former student Hadi, the authorities took the decision deeming it inappropriate to hold the admission test.
