Twenty-two young mathematicians from Bangladesh will compete in the Vietnam International Mathematics Competition (VIMC 2025), held in Da Nang, Vietnam, from August 14 to 19, 2025. Approximately 800 students from 32 countries, including Russia, China, Bulgaria, Romania, Thailand, India, Taiwan, the USA, and Bangladesh, will participate in this prestigious group-based contest, managed by Banglar Math. The Daily Campus will be the official media partner of Team Bangladesh.

Mohd. Ashraful Al Shakur, team leader and Banglar Math co-founder, said, “Our students possess both talent and skill. With the right opportunities and training, Bangladesh can excel in international mathematics competitions.” Deputy team leader Mohammad Majadur Rahman, a student at Dhaka University’s Applied Mathematics Department, added, “The students have worked hard, solving diverse problems to prepare. I hope they perform well in the final round.” Participant Mahir Mohammad Shahriar from Nasima Kadir Molla High School & Homes stated, “In training camps, we explored many mathematical topics and problem-solving techniques. We’re ready to give our best.”
The Banglar Math Excellency Championship (BMEC) 2025, held on May 30, 2025, at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in Dhaka, selected the team. Over 2,000 students registered, with 400 competing in the national round under the slogan “Let’s Make Math Fun.” From these, 100 winners were chosen, and 20 were selected for VIMC 2025 after further tests. Bangladesh has competed in this event four times previously—online in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and in person in Lucknow, India, in 2024 under Banglar Math’s supervision.
VIMC 2025, hosted at the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, expects 526 students, 181 teachers, and 100 international guests. The competition includes individual and team contests for Key Stage 2 (Grades 5-6, born on or after August 14, 2012) and Key Stage 3 (Grades 7-8, born on or after August 14, 2009), with awards for approximately two-thirds of participants.
