Staff Festival Bonus to Rise, MPO Teachers’ Allowances Doubled

Non-teaching staff of MPO-enlisted educational institutions are set to receive a 25% increase in their festival bonus, raising it to 75% of their salary, while teachers advocating for nationalization will see their house rent and medical allowances doubled. Habibullah Raju, joint convener of the MPO-Enlisted Educational Institutions Nationalization Aspirants’ Alliance, shared this update with The Daily Campus on Wednesday, August 14, 2025.

Following a meeting with the Education Adviser on Wednesday, Raju confirmed that a proposal to double teachers’ house rent allowance from Tk 1,000 to Tk 2,000 and medical allowance from Tk 500 to Tk 1,000 has been sent to the Finance Ministry. Additionally, a proposal to boost the festival bonus for non-teaching staff has been submitted, with expectations of swift implementation. “We expect these changes to be implemented soon,” Raju said.

Meanwhile, teachers demanding nationalization have issued a one-month ultimatum, setting September 14, 2025, as the deadline for their demands to be met. They have threatened a full-day work stoppage across all educational institutions on September 15 if their demands remain unaddressed, as announced after the meeting with the Education Adviser.
