A clash between two factions of Chatra Dal at Cumilla University's Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Hall led to the suspension of the unit's joint general secretary Atikur Rahman for two months. The incident occurred on 19 February when a student suffered a broken nose during a fight over hall control. The central committee issued the suspension order on Friday (20 February), signed by Joint General Secretary (equivalent to vice-president) Md. Jahangir Alam.

According to sources, the fight broke out in the presence of the unit convener and member secretary. Three members from one group were injured. Allegations also surfaced of vandalism in a mess linked to Atikur Rahman's associates. While the central committee suspended his position over the assault complaint, Atikur Rahman claims he is the victim of a conspiracy by the convener and member secretary.

Atikur Rahman says the trouble started when his younger brother, a Chatra Dal activist, was given a seat on the second floor. He alleges that Abir (accused of drug use and past Chhatra League links) and Nibir (former Chhatra League activist) declared no one could enter the hall without their permission. He informed the convener and member secretary, who later called him to the hall. Atikur claims they had already prepared against him. When Nibir misbehaved, he slapped him once, after which the convener asked him to leave. Later, hall students allegedly vandalized the mess of his associates.

Unit member secretary Mostafizur Rahman Shuvo called the incident unexpected and unfortunate. He said the central committee has already taken action. Regarding the suspension, he stated that organizational decisions are made according to decorum by the president and general secretary together. While affected parties may feel upset, the decision is final and serves as a lesson for future conduct. Any further breach will lead to stricter measures.

Unit convener Abdullah Al Mamun described it as an unwanted event and dismissed Atikur's conspiracy allegations as baseless. He emphasized that no one is above the central committee, and the suspension follows central orders.
