The US Embassy in Dhaka has warned Bangladeshi students studying in the United States to comply with the conditions of their student visas. The embassy said students could have their visas cancelled if they work outside permitted conditions, stop studying, regularly remain absent from classes or withdraw from their academic programmes without notifying their educational institutions.

The warning was issued in a social media post at around 11am on Saturday (August 22).

The embassy said a student’s visa may be cancelled if they discontinue their studies, remain absent from classes or leave their enrolled programme without informing their educational institution. Such violations could also affect their eligibility for US visas in the future.

The embassy urged students to comply with all visa conditions at all times to avoid potential complications. It also advised them to ensure that they maintain their lawful status as students in the United States.

According to the embassy, violating student visa conditions could affect not only a student’s current visa but also create complications when applying for a US visa in the future for travel or study.
