National University Gives 5 Batches of Failed Honours Students Another Chance

National University has given a fresh opportunity to students from five academic sessions who failed one or more subjects in the Honours programme at its affiliated colleges. Under a special consideration, they will be allowed to sit for the examinations one more time.

Students from the 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 academic sessions will be eligible for the opportunity. The decision was taken on Saturday (August 15) at the 103rd meeting of the National University Academic Council at the university’s main campus in Gazipur.

The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah. Pro-Vice-Chancellors Professor Md Lutfur Rahman and Professor Dr Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Treasurer Professor Dr Md Nazmul Hossain and other senior officials were present.

The meeting was also attended by Professor Dr Fakir Rafiqul Alam, acting dean of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies, Training and Research; Professor Dr Md Ashek Kabir Chowdhury, acting dean of the School of Undergraduate Studies; Dr HM Ruhul Quddus, acting dean of the Centre for Curriculum Development and Evaluation; Registrar Molla Mahfuz Al-Hossain, who serves as member-secretary of the council; principals of government and private colleges; and 43 members of the Academic Council, along with heads and officials of relevant university offices.

The council also discussed measures for students with a CGPA below 2.25, with a view to preventing them from dropping out of higher education. A proposal to allow such students to sit for improvement examinations under special consideration was also discussed at the meeting.
