NSU Hosts “Immunization for All” Awareness Session in Celebration of World Immunization Week 2026

North South University’s (NSU) Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a vital awareness session titled “Immunization for All” on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Held in observance of World Immunization Week 2026, the program aimed to underscore the critical role of vaccines in safeguarding public health and preventing the spread of life-threatening diseases.

The event, held at the university's Audi 801, brought together students, faculty, and top administration to advocate for immunization as a foundational element of a healthy community. The session was designed to provide scientific insights, dispel common vaccine misconceptions, and encourage active participation in global immunization efforts.

The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Md. Nazrul Islam from the Department of Rheumatology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). A renowned academic and public health expert, Prof. Islam shared valuable perspectives on the long-term impact of vaccination programs. He emphasized that ensuring equitable access to vaccines is a collective responsibility of the community and the healthcare system alike.

The session also featured participation from Lucky Singha, Assistant General Manager of Synovia Pharmaceuticals. Synovia served as the sponsor for the event, reflecting a shared commitment between academia and the pharmaceutical industry to advance health awareness and community well-being.

The program was graced by the presence of NSU’s top leadership, including Vice Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Nasar U. Ahmed, and Treasurer Professor Abdur Rob Khan. Also in attendance were Professor Dr. Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean of the School of Health and Life Sciences, and Dr. Mohammad Hossain Shariare, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

By hosting this initiative, North South University aligned itself with the global campaign for equitable vaccine access. The university reaffirmed its dedication to fostering social responsibility and supporting global health initiatives through academic engagement and public discourse. The event concluded with a call to action for students and participants to become advocates for immunization in their respective spheres of influence.
