As social media and print media are filled with claims of false statistics, The Daily Campus has attempted to break down the differences from a microscopic level. This investigation seeks to provide clarity on the 21 "photo finish" seats that defined the 2026 General Election. By verifying every figure, we highlight exactly how thin the margins were in the nation's most contested battlegrounds.

While the final national tally gave the BNP-led alliance 212 seats and the Jamaat-led 11-Party Alliance 77, the local reality was a game of inches. In 21 specific constituencies, the gap between victory and defeat was fewer than 5,000 votes. These razor-thin margins show a discerning electorate that evaluated individual candidates as much as party platforms.

The BNP suffered 12 narrow losses within this 5,000-vote threshold. In Dhaka-11, youth leader Md. Nahid Islam (NCP) defeated the BNP’s M. A. Qayyum by 2,039 votes. In Madaripur-1, Sayed Uddin Hanjala (BKM) edged out the BNP’s Nadira Akter by a mere 385 votes, the narrowest margin in the country.

In Rajshahi-1, Prof. Mujibur Rahman (Jamaat) won against Major Gen (Retd.) Sharif Uddin by 774 votes. In Dhaka-16, Md. Abdul Baten (Jamaat) defeated Md. Aminul Haque by 3,361 votes, while in Dhaka-4, Syed Zainul Abedin (Jamaat) beat Tanvir Ahmed by 2,920 votes.
