Experts suggest that the influence of social media on politics has grown significantly over the past few years, and its greatest impact may be seen in this election.
Let’s take a look at the official Facebook follower counts of various political party chiefs and prominent leaders:
Tarique Rahman (5.6 Million)
The official Facebook page of Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), was opened on February 3, 2009. His page currently boasts 5.6 million followers. Recently, his page was ranked 68th on the list of the top 100 Facebook content creators globally by the social media analytics website Social Blade.
Andaleeve Rahman Partho (3.2 Million)
Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho, Chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), will be contesting from the Bhola-1 constituency. His official Facebook page, opened on January 26, 2009, has 3.2 million followers.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman (2.3 Million)
The Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has 2.3 million followers on his official Facebook page, which was launched on April 5, 2015. Meanwhile, the official page of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami itself has 3 million followers.
Md. Nurul Haque Nur (2.1 Million)

Muzibur Rahman Manju (95,000)
The Chairman of Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), Muzibur Rahman Manju, has 95,000 followers. He is contesting the Feni-2 seat as a candidate of the Jamaat-led 10-party alliance.
Mufti Syed Rezaul Karim (No Official Page)
