Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has published its admission circular for the 2025-26 academic year, allowing 10,000 students to sit for the entrance exam. The detailed notification was released on the admission website on Monday.

According to the circular, applications will open on November 16 and run until December 2, with the fee submission deadline on December 4. The university will admit 1,309 students, including 1,030 regular seats and four reserved quotas.

The circular states that the top 10,000 applicants, ranked by combined marks in Higher Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry from HSC or equivalent exams, will be eligible for the test. Priority is given to those with higher scores in Higher Mathematics and Physics if marks are tied.

If the 10,000th applicant’s combined marks in these three subjects are equal, all with that score will be included. This year, there is no preliminary selection test; eligibility is based solely on the written exam, followed by oral interviews.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must have passed SSC/Dakhil/equivalent in 2022 or 2023 and HSC/Alim/equivalent in 2024 or 2025 with a minimum GPA of 4.00 in science (including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) on a 5.00 scale, or equivalent from foreign boards.

For HSC/Alim/equivalent, candidates need GPA 5.00 overall, with minimum GP 5.00 in Higher Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, or equivalent from foreign boards.

For GCE O-Level and A-Level passers, O-Level requires minimum B in five subjects (including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English), and A-Level requires minimum A in two of Higher Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, and B in the third.

The top 300 eligible GCE applicants will be selected based on A-Level grades in Higher Mathematics and Physics.

All qualified small ethnic group applicants will be allowed to sit for the test.
