The undergraduate admission test for the 2025-26 academic year at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has been finalised for January 10. The decision was taken at a meeting held on Saturday (October 25) to discuss the admission test.

Admission Test Organising Committee Chairman Prof Dr Abdul Jalil confirmed the matter to The Daily Campus. He said this time the test will not be held in two phases. It will be completed in a single phase. That means only a written exam will be held. Other aspects of the test remain unchanged.

On whether the minimum GPA for application will be reduced due to poor HSC results this year, he said the results were not poor. This time the real results came out. Those who are truly meritorious have secured GPA-5. There will be no change in our application eligibility. GPA-5 is required. Candidates must obtain GPA-5 separately in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Which was there before.

It is learnt that BUET administration completes the admission process in two phases. In the first phase, the admission committee chairman is appointed. In the next phase, the entire admission-related process is taken forward by the admission committee. As part of this process, the proposed date will be fixed through a meeting, which they will present to the Academic Council. The council can approve the date or set a new one.

Earlier on October 18, this year's BUET admission committee chairman had told The Daily Campus, "The admission test date has not been fixed yet. However, we are thinking of holding the test in early January. The committee meeting will soon fix the date. Then it will be finalised in the Academic Council."
