Preliminary calculations from the Emirates Astronomy Society indicate Ramadan 2026 will begin on February 19.

Chairman Ibrahim Al Jarwan announced that the new crescent moon, signaling Ramadan's start, will emerge on February 17 at 4:01 PM UAE time, per Gulf News.

However, with the moon setting just one minute after sunset, sighting it that evening is impossible.

Thus, moon-sighting committees will likely confirm the first fast on February 19, aligning with Islamic lunar calendar traditions.

These projections aid global Muslims in planning, though final dates depend on local sightings. Last year, Ramadan started March 11, 2025.
