Over 10,500 Skip VP Vote, Science & Tech Post Sees Highest Abstentions

In the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election, there are 28 posts, including Vice-President (VP), General Secretary (GS), and Assistant General Secretary (AGS). The university authorities have released the vote counts received by the winners for these posts. According to the data, candidates for the VP post received the highest number of votes. Among the editorial posts, the highest number of students abstained from voting for the Science and Technology Editor position.
According to information published today, Saturday (13 September), the highest number of students voted for the Vice-President (VP) post. For this post, contested by 45 candidates, 29,259 votes were cast. The total number of voters was 39,874. Thus, 10,615 students, including both present and absent, did not vote for this post. For the General Secretary (GS) post, contested by 19 candidates, 28,677 students cast their votes. 11,197 did not vote.
For the Assistant General Secretary (AGS) post, contested by 25 candidates, 28,292 votes were cast, and 11,582 did not vote. For the Liberation War and Democratic Movement Editor post, contested by 17 candidates, 25,455 students voted. Thus, 14,419 students, including both present and absent, did not vote for this post. For the Science and Technology Editor post, contested by 12 candidates, the lowest number of votes—25,009—were cast. The highest number, 14,865, did not vote.
26,012 voters cast votes for the 11 candidates in the Common Room, Reading Room, and Canteen Editor post. Thus, 13,862 did not vote. For the International Editor post, contested by 14 candidates, 25,387 votes were cast, and 14,487 did not vote. For the Literature and Cultural Editor post, contested by 19 candidates, 25,482 voters participated. 14,392 did not vote.
For the Research and Publication Editor post, contested by 9 candidates, 25,741 votes were cast. 14,133 did not vote. 26,459 voters supported the 13 candidates for the Sports Editor post. 13,415 did not vote. For the Student Transport Editor post, contested by 12 candidates, 26,235 students voted, and 13,639 did not. For the Social Service Editor post, contested by 17 candidates, 25,907 voted. 13,967 did not vote.
For the Career Development Editor post, contested by 15 candidates, 25,742 voted. 14,132 did not vote. 25,283 voted for the 15 candidates in the Health and Environment Editor post. 14,591 did not vote. For the Human Rights and Legal Affairs Editor post, contested by 11 candidates, 25,048 voted. 14,826 did not vote.
Besides these editorial posts, there are 13 posts for Executive Members. 217 candidates contested for these posts.
