Rajshahi College Mobile Library Reopens After Seven Years

After a seven-year hiatus, Rajshahi College’s mobile library has been relaunched through the initiative of the Green Voice College Branch, creating a wave of enthusiasm among students on its opening day. On Monday, 14 July, at 12:30 pm, the library, named Deeplok, was inaugurated in front of the Arts Building under the leadership of Green Voice College Branch President Rabeya Khatun. The ceremony was led by College Principal Professor Md. Zahurul Ali, who formally opened the facility.
The principal emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating that the Green Voice College Branch’s effort will serve as a milestone for students. He noted that the mobile library will enable students to gain knowledge beyond their academic curriculum, covering diverse subjects. Expressing optimism, he highlighted its potential to play a unique role in students’ development and wished for the initiative’s success.
The event was attended by Green Voice College Branch advisors, including Lecturer Md. Mostafizur Rahman from the Bangla Department, Assistant Professor Md. Golam Kibria, Associate Professor Dr. Md. Zahirul Islam from the Geography and Environmental Science Department, and General Secretary Md. Ashik Ali, among others. The organization announced that the library houses books in Bangla, English, literature, and various other subjects. Students enrolled at Rajshahi College can access books by presenting their ID cards and providing necessary details, with the option to borrow books for seven days to read at home. The library will primarily operate on Mondays from 10 am to 1 pm during college hours, with additional hours on Wednesdays and Fridays from afternoon to evening. A reading circle will also be held on Wednesday afternoons.
Notably, the mobile library, initially launched as the “Mobile Integrity Library” on 10 February 2018 under the initiative of then-Principal Professor Md. Habibur Rahman, aimed to foster honesty among students. Its unique feature allowed readers to borrow books of their choice and return them voluntarily on the same day without library staff supervision. The primary goal was to promote integrity and ethical values, making students’ honesty the cornerstone of the library’s operations.
