Facebook Suffers Temporary Outage in Bangladesh, Users See 'Account Temporarily Unavailable'

Thousands of Facebook users in Bangladesh reported difficulties accessing the social media platform around 1:45 pm on Saturday, with many encountering an error message stating that their accounts were temporarily unavailable.

Instead of their usual news feeds, affected users were shown a notice reading: “Account Temporarily Unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.” The message indicated that the disruption was related to a technical issue rather than individual account problems.

The outage sparked concern across social media, with users turning to alternative platforms to confirm whether the problem was widespread. Several businesses, news organizations, and content creators that rely on Facebook also experienced temporary disruptions to their online operations.

While Meta, the parent company of Facebook, had not immediately issued a detailed statement at the time of the outage, the on-screen message suggested the issue was caused by a site-wide technical problem and that engineers were working to restore normal service.

Technology experts say such incidents can occur during major backend infrastructure upgrades or software deployments. According to industry analysts, temporary service interruptions are sometimes an unintended consequence of platform-wide updates designed to improve performance, security, or introduce new features.
