Starlink Mobile to Be Available in Bangladesh
Starlink's satellite-to-mobile technology is opening up new opportunities for communication beyond the coverage of conventional mobile networks. In Bangladesh, Banglalink customers will be able to access the service at no additional cost during the first month with any internet or mixed bundle pack, while access from the second month will be limited to selected packages.
Under the announced offer, customers can use Starlink mobile services free of additional charges during the first month alongside any Banglalink internet or mixed bundle pack. From the second month, the service will be available with selected monthly internet and mixed bundle packages.
Customers will also receive five free SMS messages every month for use over the satellite network, according to the announcement.
However, the announcement does not specify a separate monthly charge for Starlink mobile services or provide the prices of all eligible packages. Customers will need to check Banglalink's latest package and offer details to determine the exact cost. Although the satellite service will be available without an additional charge under the offer, customers will still have to pay for the associated internet or mixed bundle pack.
How does Starlink mobile work?
Satellite-to-mobile technology enables users to access certain communication services even when conventional mobile networks are unavailable. It could therefore play an important role in maintaining connectivity in remote areas, at sea and during natural disasters.
The technology can support sending and receiving SMS messages and messages through selected apps, depending on the system and services available. It may also allow users to share their locations while travelling through remote areas or working at sea.
The service could help maintain limited communication during natural disasters, power outages or disruptions to conventional mobile networks. It may offer an alternative communication option for fishermen, tourists, people working on vessels and residents of remote areas.
However, the launch of Starlink mobile does not guarantee access to all types of internet services. Video calls, high-speed internet and access to all apps will depend on the technology's capabilities, supported applications and the terms set by the mobile operator.
The announcement also states that customers will not need to purchase a separate satellite dish or connection device to use the service.
