Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Home Affairs Adviser, has reported that 123 organizations have staged a total of 1,604 road blockades in Dhaka and its surrounding areas since the interim government assumed power. These blockades have caused severe traffic congestion, significantly disrupting daily life.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, August 31, 2025, after a core committee meeting on law and order, he shared these details. “Since we took charge, 1,604 blockades have occurred on the roads of Dhaka and nearby areas, carried out by 123 organizations,” he stated.

Adviser Chowdhury highlighted the impact of these disruptions, noting, “A major cause of traffic congestion is that if even one corner of a road is blocked, it affects the entire city of Dhaka.” He urged organizations to hold protests in designated areas to minimize public inconvenience. “There are open fields, or we have Suhrawardy Udyan. If protests are held in such places, the suffering of the public will be reduced,” he added.
