55% of People Want Online Classes Due to Fuel Crisis: Education Minister
Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that 55% of people in the country want online classes due to the fuel crisis.
He made the remark on Tuesday (31 March) while replying to a question from journalists at the Secretariat.
The minister said: “I have already conducted a survey and found that 55% of people want classes to go online. However, if we shift entirely to online mode, we will once again become anti-social.”
He added: “Due to the global fuel crisis, we are considering introducing a mix of online and offline classes in schools in metropolitan areas. The Ministry of Education has planned to run classes in both online and offline modes to tackle the crisis. For this, teaching activities may be conducted six days a week instead of five.”
The minister further stated: “We have discussed shifting all types of Bangla and English medium schools to a combined online and offline mode. However, no decision has been taken yet. We will present our plan at the Cabinet meeting on Thursday. Whatever decision is made there will be implemented.”
He said: “The Prime Minister has given various directives for fuel conservation in the country. As part of this, there is a plan to keep schools open for six days a week instead of five and run at least some classes through online and offline modes. Especially in metropolitan areas, there is a plan to introduce online-based classes.”
