The nearly 40-day long holiday for Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr ends today, Saturday (28 March). From tomorrow, Sunday (29 March), all educational institutions from primary to higher secondary levels across the country will once again become lively with the footsteps of students.

To make up for learning losses caused by the long break, extra classes will be conducted in government primary schools.

Universities, including Dhaka University, will also resume classes and examinations from tomorrow after the extended break. After the BNP government assumed office, Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon standardised the holiday schedule for all institutions from primary to higher secondary, removing previous disparities.

Due to the ongoing war in the Middle East and the potential power and fuel crisis, the government had closed all public and private universities from 9 March. The University Grants Commission (UGC) had issued letters to universities to implement this decision.

The university holiday also ends on 28 March. From tomorrow, Sunday, academic activities and classes will resume in most universities across the country.

Because schools remained closed throughout the holy month of Ramadan, extra classes will be held on 10 Saturdays (the weekly holiday) in government primary schools to recover learning losses. After the holiday ends, classes on subsequent Saturdays will continue as part of this recovery effort.
