The Bangladesh Secondary Assistant Teachers’ Association has demanded the cancellation of the 18-year teaching experience requirement for recruiting principals in non-government MPO-listed educational institutions, calling it a “black law” that is completely unreasonable and unjust.

In a statement issued by the Chattogram district branch of the organization on Saturday (14 March), the association stated: “The 18-year experience condition for principal recruitment in non-government MPO-listed institutions must be abolished. The MPO teacher community believes that imposing such a long experience requirement is not justified.”

The statement further said: “The experience requirement for principal recruitment should be set between 10 and 12 years. If this condition is implemented, it will open up more opportunities for capable and skilled teachers to become principals.”

The association also warned: “If this ‘black law’ is not repealed, MPO-listed teachers will prepare for a tough movement after the upcoming Eid.”
