Fascist collaborators trying to create anarchy: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has condemned the brutal killing of Harun Master, the former president of Nayabari Union BNP in Dhaka's Dohar, alleging it demonstrates that “accomplices of the fallen fascist Awami regime are still trying to create anarchy in the country.”
In a statement to the media on Wednesday, Fakhrul strongly denounced the murder, saying the attack proves opponents of democracy continue to unleash violence against BNP leaders and activists. “That is why opposition leaders and activists are being attacked and murdered in barbaric ways,” he said.
Drawing the government’s attention, Fakhrul demanded immediate action. “These terrorists must be suppressed with an iron hand. There is no alternative. If the government does not act firmly, the country will once again become unstable under the swagger of these criminals,” he warned.
The BNP leader also urged people across political lines to remain vigilant so that “conspirators cannot exploit violence against opposition activists to reap benefits.” Only then, he said, would true democracy, good governance, and the security of people’s lives and property be ensured.
Fakhrul demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of Harun Master’s killers. He also offered prayers for the departed soul and extended deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
In a separate statement, Fakhrul expressed alarm over the recent gang rape of a woman in Bhola, calling it a shocking act of cruelty “more savage than beasts.” He said such repeated incidents have left women across Bangladesh feeling deeply insecure.
Fakhrul added, “Even though people have been freed from Awami misrule, the country is still not fully safe, which is why these barbaric incidents against women keep happening.” He demanded the swift arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the Bhola assault.
