Prime Minister Tarique Rahman extended warm greetings and congratulations to all Bangla speakers and people of every language and ethnic group worldwide on the occasion of Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day. He paid deep respect to the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement, whose sacrifices established the dignity of Bangla as our mother tongue. The Prime Minister highlighted that Ekushey February is an unforgettable chapter in national life, where martyrs like Abul Barkat, Abdus Salam, Rafiq Uddin Ahmed, and Abdul Jabbar laid the first foundation for liberation from long oppression.

He noted that the Language Movement not only secured linguistic rights but strengthened Bengali demands for self-rule, democracy, and cultural consciousness. This blood-soaked path led to the Great Liberation War and Bangladesh's independence. Rahman described Bangla as the primary vehicle of national identity and recalled UNESCO's recognition of 21 February as International Mother Language Day in honor of the martyrs' love and sacrifice.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the spirit of Ekushey now inspires global efforts to protect and promote all languages. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to upholding democratic values, people's rights, and equality—the core ideals of Ekushey. The current administration is dedicated to consolidating democracy, building a self-reliant, safe, humane, and democratic state, and fulfilling the aspirations of martyrs from 1952, 1971, and 2024.

Rahman called on everyone worldwide to work toward preserving the dignity of all languages. He urged protecting Bangladesh's existing linguistic diversity, safeguarding indigenous cultures and traditions, and ensuring proper use and practice of Bangla at all levels. He prayed for the forgiveness of all language martyrs and wished success for all programs organized on this occasion.
