102 Detained in Adabor for Brutal Attack on Police by ‘Kobji Kata’ Gang

At least 102 individuals have been detained by law enforcement in connection with a violent attack on a police officer in the Sunibir Housing area of Adabor, Dhaka. The assault, carried out by members of the notorious ‘Kobji Kata’ teen gang, left Constable Al-Amin seriously injured.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) AKM Mehedi Hasan of Mohammadpur Zone under Tejgaon Division confirmed the detentions at approximately 2:45 AM on Tuesday. He stated, “So far, 102 people have been detained in connection with the incident of hacking and injuring police member Al-Amin in the housing area of Adabor. Joint forces are conducting drives in different parts of Adabor. Among those involved in this incident, several people have been detained. Verification is ongoing, and our drive is still continuing.”

The attack occurred around 11:00 PM on Monday when police conducted a raid at a garage in Sunibir Housing. Local residents reported that Johnny and Rony, identified as the masterminds of the ‘Kobji Kata’ gang operating in the Mohammadpur-Adabor area, led the assault using locally made weapons. Constable Al-Amin was hacked, sustaining severe injuries, and was promptly rescued and admitted to a hospital for treatment.

According to locals, Johnny and Rony are prominent figures in the ‘Kobji Kata’ gang, which exerts control over Adabor from a base in the Adabor-10 sand field. The gang is infamous for previous violent incidents, including hacking and killing multiple individuals. Despite prior arrests, the duo reportedly secured bail within days and resumed their criminal activities.
