Mohammad Salahuddin, the senior assistant coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team, has resigned from his position after just one year, despite a contract running until March 2026. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the departure, with Salahuddin citing personal reasons and dissatisfaction with his role.

The resignation letter, submitted recently to the BCB, states that he is no longer enjoying his current responsibilities, according to Cricketbuzz, which first reported the news. Salahuddin confirmed the move in a brief statement to the outlet, saying, "Yes, I am resigning," but declined further comment.

Salahuddin, a respected figure in Bangladeshi cricket, joined the national team setup in November 2024 as senior assistant coach under head coach Phil Simmons, focusing on batting development. His tenure coincided with a transitional period, including the appointment of Mohammad Ashraful as batting coach for the upcoming Ireland series.

The 50-year-old, a former domestic player and coach, previously served as Bangladesh's assistant and fielding coach from 2006 to 2010. He holds ACC-Cricket Australia Level 3 accreditation and has led Comilla Victorians to two BPL titles and coached Singapore's national team in 2014.

BCB President Faruque Ahmed, who appointed him, praised Salahuddin's "wealth of experience" but noted the decision was personal. "We respect his choice and wish him well," Ahmed said.

The resignation comes ahead of Bangladesh's tour of Ireland (starting November 6: 2 Tests, 3 T20Is), where Ashraful will handle batting duties. BCB is yet to name a replacement, but sources suggest internal options are being considered.

Salahuddin's exit marks another shift in Bangladesh's coaching staff, following Nick Pothas's departure in January 2025. His mentorship has influenced stars like Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, and he remains a BPL coach for Comilla Victorians.
