BNP Leader's Body Recovered from Under Bridge in Teknaf
Police recovered the body of a local BNP leader from under a bridge in Teknaf Upazila's Rungkhali area on Wednesday morning. The body was spotted by residents in the shallow water below the bridge.
The deceased, Md. Yunus (45), was a former UP member of Ward No. 1, Sabrang Union, and convener of Arafat Rahman Koko Sports Council. Witnesses said the body was found floating in the morning, clad only in pants, with no upper garment.
Yunus's family reported him missing since Tuesday night. After extensive searches, they learned of the recovery.
Teknaf Model Thana's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Zaed Mohammad Nazmun Noor said, "Police were dispatched after reports of a body under the bridge. Preliminary investigations are underway; details will follow."
The cause of death remains unclear, with no visible injuries reported. Police have sent the body for autopsy, and an unnatural death case has been registered. Local BNP leaders expressed shock, demanding a thorough probe.
The incident has raised concerns amid rising political tensions in the region.
