Amid ongoing Middle East conflict and disruptions caused by damage to the floating LNG terminal in Maheshkhali, the government has increased Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices at the consumer level. The price of a standard 12-kilogram LPG cylinder has been hiked by BDT 70, raising the retail cost to BDT 1,598 for the month of August. The new rates will come into effect from 6:00 PM today, Sunday (August 2).

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the adjusted tariff inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT) in a notification issued on Sunday afternoon, aligning consumer prices with fluctuations in the international market. According to BERC's statement, the newly fixed rates will remain in force across retail outlets nationwide until further notice.

Prior to this revision, the retail price for a 12-kg LPG cylinder stood at BDT 1,528. BERC confirmed that alongside the standard 12-kg canisters, prices for all other LPG cylinder capacities have also been adjusted proportionally.
