No female aspirant meets admission criteria in two departments at JU, delay in result publication
No female student has fulfilled the prescribed conditions for admission to English and Law and Justice departments under 'C' Unit for the 2025-26 academic session at Jahangirnagar University (JU). As a result, publication of examination results is being delayed, multiple university sources said.
No female student has been able to qualify for admission to these two departments failing to meet the condition of obtaining minimum 60 percent marks in English mentioned in the admission circular.
It is learnt that although examination results are prepared, publication is being delayed due to complication of conditions. Therefore, admission test committee has decided to reduce the condition to fill female quota.
In this regard, JU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Mahfuzur Rahman said the condition of 60 percent marks in case of English and Law departments has become somewhat high in light of reality. Considering current results, we are thinking to review the matter from 55 percent marks.
Notably, 50 percent female and 50 percent male students are admitted in each department at Jahangirnagar University.
