Team Bangladesh bags 9 silver, 22 bronze at World Mathematics Team Championship 2025

Bangladeshi students have delivered an outstanding performance at the World Mathematics Team Championship (WMTC) 2025 held in Bangkok, Thailand, securing nine silver medals and 22 bronze medals. Five students also received merit awards.

Four Bangladeshi teams earned places among the top 30 per cent of teams worldwide, with one team each from the Junior, Intermediate and Advanced categories achieqng the distinction.

In the Junior category, 15 students represented Bangladesh: Ahmed Ayman Ibrahim (Aga Khan Academy, Dhaka), Kazi Ahnaf Masud (BAF Shaheen College, Kurmitola), Arijit Saha, Saifan Sawad, Diptimoy Chakraborty, Ishtiaf Azam Ahmed, Naushad Zaman, Mahthir Marshad and Md Rahib Abid (St Joseph Higher Secondary School), Mubtasim Al Mahdi and Adib Aidid (Dhaka Residential Model College), Ayan Rashid Mahmud (South Breeze School), Al Jisaur Rahman Jihad (Rural Service Foundation Model School and College), Prakriti Biswas (SFX Greenherald International School) and Kinjal Nag Divya (St Joseph International School).

The Intermediate category featured 12 participants: Rishan An Nafi and Jahin Hasan (Dhaka Residential Model College), Ishmam Ramiv Ahmed, Md Tahmid Hasan Khan and Ritvik Jowaddar (St Joseph Higher Secondary School), Chandan Chatterjee (Pirojpur Government High School), K M Tamim (Willes Little Flower School and College), Alvin Khan (Manipur High School and College), Mohammad Saifan Hayder (St Joseph International School), Laiba Sarina Islam (Presidency International School) and Farhan Toha and Zarif Muhtasim Bhuiyan (Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College).

Nine students competed in the Advanced category: Saad Bin Ahmed (Notre Dame College), Md Tahsin Islam (Cumilla Zilla School), Ruwaif Mustanir (Mastermind School), Dewan Mohammad Sunan and Talha Harun (Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College), Isam Wafidur Rahman (Sunndale School), Priyanti Das (Holy Cross College), Samira Mukit Chowdhury (Viqrunnisa Noon School and College) and Saba Jannat Anwesha (Government Gurudayal College).

For context, Banglar Math organised the Banglar Math Team Championship 2025 to select the national squad. The team was finalised through three stages – online selection round, national round and team selection test – followed by two months of intensive training under the overall supervision of Banglar Math.
