Primary and Mass Education State Minister Bobby Hajjaj has clarified that the government will not introduce online classes in primary schools despite the ongoing measles outbreak and fuel crisis.

The ministry will continue with physical (in-person) classes as the preferred mode of education.

After visiting several primary schools in the capital on Monday (6 April) to inspect infrastructure and academic activities, the state minister told journalists:

“Online classes are not very effective for young children at the primary level. That is why we are prioritising in-person teaching. The government is fully focused on the health and safety of the children. If the situation worsens, we will take necessary steps based on expert opinion.”

She added that the ministry is working to keep educational activities normal and that the government is planning to introduce several new and timely initiatives in the education sector by June-July, with special emphasis on improving school infrastructure.
