Babita, Ayub Bachchu, Shafik Rehman among 10 named for Ekushey Padak 2026

The government has announced 10 recipients for the 2026 Ekushey Padak, the country’s second‑highest civilian honor. The list was revealed at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on Thursday, 5 February, by Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

- Film: Babita
- Fine arts: Dr Mohammad Abdus Sattar
- Architecture: Marina Tabassum
- Music: Ayub Bachchu
- Band music: Warfaze
- Drama: Palakar Islam Uddin
- Journalism: Shafik Rehman
- Education: Prof Mahbubul Alam Mojumdar
- Sculpture: Tejas Halder
- Dance: Othoi Ahmed
The Ekushey Padak is traditionally conferred ahead of International Mother Language Day to recognize outstanding contributions in language, culture, education, the arts, and public service.
