DUCSU VP Shadik Kayem Set to Get Married
Shadik Kayem, the Vice President (VP) of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and Central International Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, is set to tie the knot. The wedding ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 13, 2026, according to multiple close sources confirmed today, Thursday (May 7).
The bride-to-be has been identified as Anika Farayezi, an MBBS doctor by profession. She hails from the Gawabati Union of Chauddagram Upazila in Comilla. Her father is a prominent businessman, currently serving as the Vice Chairman of Reliance Group and the Chairman of Probashibangla Properties Limited, in addition to holding key positions in several other organizations.
The religious marriage contract ceremony (Akdh) is expected to be held at the Dhaka University Central Mosque in the presence of DUCSU leaders and students of the university. The main wedding reception will follow at a convention center in the capital.
The news of the DUCSU VP’s marriage has been trending across social media, with students and fellow leaders sharing their congratulations. The discussion gained significant momentum after a wedding card designed by DUCSU leader Mazharul Islam began circulating on Facebook.
Shadik Kayem, a student of the Political Science department at Dhaka University, rose to national prominence as a coordinator of the "Students Against Discrimination" movement during the 2024 July uprising. He made history by being elected as the first DUCSU VP from a Shibir-affiliated background in decades during the 2025 DUCSU elections, securing 14,042 votes.
