Tarique Rahman’s Beloved Pet Cat ‘Jebu’ Returns to Bangladesh with Family
Adding a heartwarming touch to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's historic homecoming, the family's pet cat ‘Jebu’ arrived in Dhaka today alongside Rahman, his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and daughter Zaima Rahman.
‘Jebu’, a fluffy Siberian cat adopted by Zaima Rahman, travelled in a crate on the same Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight that landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11:40 am after a stopover in Sylhet.
Shortly after noon, the BNP's verified Facebook page announced Jebu’s arrival, posting photographs with the caption: ‘Jebu returns to country.’
Jebu has previously gained significant attention on social media after Tarique Rahman shared photos and videos featuring the cat. In a BBC Bangla interview, Rahman described Jebu as belonging to his daughter but noted: "Now it has become everyone’s favourite. We all adore it."
The cat's popularity led to the creation of an official Facebook page for Jebu just hours before the family's departure from London.
Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh after 17 years in exile. A large reception was organised at the 300-Feet area in Purbachal, where thousands of party leaders and activists gathered.
Following the brief event, Rahman proceeded to Evercare Hospital to visit his mother, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment.
