The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has decided to deactivate extra SIMs registered to any National ID (NID). From tomorrow, Thursday (October 30), any SIMs beyond 10 per NID will be automatically deactivated.

The announcement came in a recent notice from BTRC, stating that no individual can register more than 10 SIMs using one NID. Extra SIMs must be deregistered by the relevant mobile operators by Thursday.

The notice clarifies that users can retain their preferred 10 SIMs registered to their NID. Excess SIMs can be deregistered or ownership transferred via the operator's customer care during the deadline. Post-deadline, BTRC will randomly deactivate the extras.

How to Check Registered SIMs: Dial *16001# from any operator (Grameenphone, Robi, Airtel, Banglalink, or Teletalk). The system will request the last four digits of your NID. After replying, an SMS will confirm the total registered SIMs and their operators.
