Apple is in early talks with Google to integrate its Gemini AI system into a redesigned Siri, according to Bloomberg News, reported on August 22, 2025. The discussions aim to bolster Siri’s capabilities as Apple strives to catch up with competitors in the generative AI race, where it has lagged behind Google and Samsung, who have swiftly embedded advanced AI assistants in their devices.

No final decision has been made on whether Apple will use its in-house AI models or partner with an external provider like Google. The company has also explored collaborations with OpenAI and Anthropic. A revamped Siri, long in development, was delayed by a year from its initial spring 2024 target due to engineering challenges. The upgrade aims to enable more personalized task execution and full voice-based device control.

Siri, launched over a decade ago, has struggled to match rivals like Google Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa in handling complex requests and third-party app integration.
