The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather alert warning of potential squally winds, lightning strikes, thunderous showers, or rain in parts of Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, and Naogaon districts by 5:00 PM today, Thursday.

The emergency warning was published on Thursday afternoon through an official forecast on the Meteorological Department's verified Facebook page. The Met Office strongly advised the public to remain indoors and avoid leaving their homes during expected lightning strikes. Furthermore, citizens have been urged to avoid staying in open fields, high grounds, or other vulnerable and risky locations to ensure personal safety.

The afternoon warning follows a series of similar localized lightning and storm alerts issued by the weather office earlier in the day. During the noon hours, a warning was broadcasted for Brahmanbaria, Narsingdi, Gazipur, and Sherpur districts. The forecast indicated a high probability of squally winds, lightning strikes, and thunderstorm activity in certain areas of these four districts by 3:00 PM, explicitly warning residents to stay indoors.

Earlier on Thursday morning, a separate alert was rolled out for Habiganj, Kishoreganj, and Moulvibazar districts. The early morning bulletin warned of squally winds, severe lightning, and rainfall across various pockets of these three districts by 9:00 AM, similarly advising the public against stepping outside. The Meteorological Department continues to monitor the atmospheric conditions closely, urging the nation to maintain high caution as seasonal thunderstorms pass through various regions.
