Health Advisor's Two POs Fail to Appear Before ACC

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) summoned two personal officers (POs) of Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum, Muhammad Tuhin Farabi and Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, for questioning regarding allegations of amassing illegal wealth through abuse of power, influence peddling, extortion, and tender manipulation. However, neither appeared before the ACC on Tuesday, May 20, as scheduled, nor did they submit any requests for an extension of time.
ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain stated, “The ACC provided them an opportunity to present their defense, but they did not avail it. Their absence will not hinder the investigation process. The inquiry will continue as per the commission’s laws and regulations. Upon completion of the investigation within the stipulated time, a report will be submitted, and actions will be taken based on its recommendations.”
Addressing concerns about the possibility of the accused fleeing the country, Akhtar Hossain added, “If the investigation reveals attempts by the accused to abscond, necessary legal measures will be taken. Our investigation team is equipped to handle such risks and will act accordingly.”
He further noted that the investigation team may summon the accused again if deemed necessary.
