Record Prize Money for 2026 World Cup: Bangladesh to Earn Tk 3 Cr
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken a major step in boosting women’s cricket by announcing a record prize money for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.
The total prize pool for the tournament, to be held in England and Wales in two months’ time, has been set at approximately US$ 876,400 — nearly 10% higher than the 2024 edition.
Prize Money Breakdown:
- Champions: US$ 234,000
- Runners-up: US$ 117,000
- Semi-finalists: US$ 67,500 each
- Every participating team: Minimum US$ 24,700 guaranteed
Bangladesh, who qualified through the regional qualifiers, will receive around Tk 3.04 crore simply for participating in the tournament.
This will be the first Women’s T20 World Cup featuring 12 teams. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice described the increased prize money and expanded format as a reflection of the growing stature and competitiveness of women’s cricket globally.
The trophy tour has already begun from the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London and will visit various cities across England and Europe to boost fan engagement.
The tournament will kick off on 12 June 2026 at Edgbaston, Birmingham, with the opening match between hosts England and Sri Lanka.
With higher prize money, more teams, and growing global interest, the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup is set to be a landmark event in the history of women’s cricket.
