The online application process for the 2025-26 academic year’s XI class admissions in Bangladesh’s government and private colleges has seen an overwhelming response, with 862,156 students applying in the first eight days from July 30 to August 6, 2025. This robust participation, confirmed by Professor Md. Reazaul Haque, College Inspector of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, to The Daily Campus on Monday, August 8, underscores the high demand for higher secondary education across the country. The application window, accessible through the designated website http://www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd/, will remain open until August 11, providing students additional time to submit their preferences.

According to education board sources, the Dhaka Education Board received the highest number of applications at 193,463, followed by the Madrasa Board with 112,367 submissions. This year, a total of 9,181 colleges and madrasas offer approximately 22 lakh seats for XI class students. Additionally, the Technical Education Board provides around 9 lakh seats at the HSC level, and government and private polytechnics contribute another 241,000 seats, resulting in a cumulative capacity of about 33.25 lakh seats. In contrast, 13,03,426 students passed the SSC and equivalent examinations this year, indicating a competitive yet accommodating admission landscape. The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has recommended introducing a July Uprising quota for XI class admissions, while noting that the freedom fighter quota is no longer necessary, as outlined in the admission policy.

The application process is exclusively online, with no manual submissions accepted for general applicants. Students are required to pay a 220-taka application fee, allowing them to select a minimum of five and a maximum of 10 colleges based on their preferences. The selection process evaluates applicants’ merit, applicable quotas, and college preferences, assigning each student to a single institution. Exceptions are made for specially-abled students who passed the SSC, children of expatriates, and BKSP students, who may apply manually through the education board, with verification of their documents ensuring fair placement.

Students who passed the SSC from the Science group can choose any stream—Science, Humanities, or Business Studies—for higher secondary education. Those from the Humanities or Business Studies groups are limited to selecting either of these two streams. Similarly, Dakhil passers from the Science group can opt for any of the three streams, while those from the General group are restricted to Humanities or Business Studies. No admission tests are required, with selections based solely on SSC and equivalent examination results.

The admission process is structured in three phases. The first phase, currently underway, accepts applications until August 11, with results announced on August 20 at 8:00 PM. Two additional phases will follow for application submission, result publication, and confirmation, culminating in final admissions. Classes for the XI level are scheduled to commence on September 15, 2025, across all institutions.

Admission fees vary by institution and location. For MPO-affiliated institutions, the session charge and admission fee are capped at 5,000 taka in Dhaka metropolitan areas, 3,000 taka in other metropolitan areas, 2,000 taka in district towns, and 1,500 taka in upazila or rural areas. Non-MPO or partially MPO-affiliated institutions have higher caps: 7,500 taka for Bangla medium and 8,500 taka for English medium in Dhaka metropolitan areas, 5,000 taka for Bangla medium and 6,000 taka for English medium in other metropolitan areas, 3,000 taka for Bangla medium and 4,000 taka for English medium in district towns, and 2,500 taka for Bangla medium and 3,000 taka for English medium in upazila or rural areas. These guidelines ensure transparency and accessibility in the admission process for the 2025-26 academic year.
