LPG Price Hiked Again: 12 kg Cylinder Now Tk 1,940
The government has once again increased the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) at the consumer level. The new prices came into effect from Sunday evening (19 April).
According to the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC), the price per kg of LPG has been raised by Tk 17.62. As a result, the price of the most commonly used 12 kg cylinder has increased by Tk 212, from Tk 1,728 to Tk 1,940.
New Prices (per litre):
- Diesel: Tk 115
- Octane: Tk 140
- Petrol: Tk 135
- Kerosene: Tk 130
The government company-supplied 12.5 kg cylinder price remains unchanged at Tk 825. The price of auto gas (used in vehicles) has been set at Tk 89.50 per litre (up from Tk 79.77).
BERC adjusts LPG prices every month based on the Saudi Aramco CP (Contract Price) and the average dollar rate. This latest hike is attributed to rising global prices and increased shipping costs due to the ongoing regional conflict.
