BUET Admission Test Schedule for 2025-26 to Be Finalised in Academic Council Meeting

No decision has yet been taken regarding the undergraduate admission test for the 2025-26 academic year at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The schedule will be finalised at the Academic Council meeting immediately after the publication of HSC results. Prof Dr Abdul Hasib Chowdhury, pro-vice-chancellor of the university, shared this information.
On Wednesday (1 October), Prof Dr Abdul Hasib Chowdhury told The Daily Campus, “We have not yet discussed the admission test. A decision on this matter will be taken at the Academic Council meeting after the HSC results are published. Neither I nor the vice-chancellor has the authority to make a decision on this.”
Meanwhile, authorities have indicated that the University of Dhaka's admission test could be advanced by at least two months compared to last year. Due to the national election scheduled for February 2026 and Ramadan, the relevant parties want to complete the process this year itself. In that case, admission applications could begin in the last week of this month.
For the same reason, officials have said that admission tests at medical colleges, Rajshahi University, Jagannath University and other higher education institutions could also be brought forward. In such a scenario, the admission tests at top universities could be completed by January next year.
Sources at the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee said the results of this year's HSC and equivalent examinations will be published around mid-October. On Sunday, Prof SM Kamal Uddin Haidar, controller of examinations at the Dhaka Education Board, told The Daily Campus, “The evaluation of answer scripts is underway. We hope to publish the results by 19 October.”
Admission officials at the University of Dhaka said the authorities will initiate the admission process within a few days of the HSC results publication. A decision on starting applications will be taken within a week of the results. In that case, if the results are published by 19 October, applications for the University of Dhaka admission test could begin in the last week of this month.
Two teachers involved in the University of Dhaka's admission process said the authorities will take a final decision on the test dates at the Central Admission Committee's meeting scheduled for 7 or 12 October. And a decision on applications will be made after the HSC results are published. If the admission test is advanced by two months this time, the University of Dhaka's admission process will return to its normal schedule from the pre-Covid era and the period following the July mass uprising.
