Rajshahi University (RU)'s undergraduate admission test for the 2025-26 academic year could be held in the first week of January 2026. If finalised, this would bring the process forward by three months compared to the current academic year, when tests began in mid-April this year and continued until completion.

This information came from conversations with three teachers who served on last year's admission test committee. However, the university administration has yet to take a final decision. For the 2024-25 academic year, RU's admission tests for A, B and C units were conducted in the Dhaka, Rangpur, Khulna and Chittagong regions. The B unit (business education) test was held on 12 April, A unit (humanities) on 19 April, and C unit (science) on 26 April. Tests were conducted in a single shift each day.

In response to a query on the possible timeline for the admission test, Prof Dr Mo Shaiful Islam, director of the university's ICT Centre, told The Daily Campus, “There is a high likelihood of holding the admission test earlier this year. The national election and Ramadan will begin in February. In that case, the test could be conducted before February. Personally, I would advise taking it at the start of January. But everything will be finalised at the admission test committee meeting.”

When asked about whether there will be a selection process for the test, he said, “There is a greater chance that there will be no selection this time. If needed, shifts will be increased. Instead of two shifts, the test could be held in three or four shifts.”

Faculty of Arts Dean Prof Dr Belal Hossain provided similar information. He said, “The admission test will be held before the election. A meeting of the admission test committee will be called very soon, where decisions on all aspects will be made.”

As per last year's details, the preliminary application fee was Tk 55, while the final fee was Tk 1,100 for the B unit (business education) and Tk 1,320 for the A (humanities) and C (science) units. Candidates' merit was assessed through 80 multiple-choice questions within a one-hour timeframe.

The eligibility criteria required applicants from the humanities stream to secure a minimum GPA of 3.00 in both SSC or equivalent and HSC or equivalent exams (including the fourth subject), with a combined total GPA of 7.00. Students from the commerce stream had to meet the same requirements: a minimum GPA of 3.00 in both exams (including the fourth subject) and a total GPA of 7.00.

For science stream applicants, the requirement was a minimum GPA of 3.50 in both SSC or equivalent and HSC or equivalent exams (including the fourth subject), along with a combined total GPA of 8.00.
