Government primary teachers resume annual examinations
Government primary school teachers across the country have resumed annual examinations for all classes from today, Sunday (7 December).
Two teachers’ platforms – Primary Teachers Demand Implementation Council and Bangladesh Primary Assistant Teachers Organisation Unity Council – announced the development in a joint press release on Saturday (6 December). They claimed the decision was taken considering the welfare of students.
The release stated that ongoing programmes of both councils have been observed. “Keeping in mind our morality, humanity and the fate of our child-like tender students, the ‘complete shutdown’ programme is suspended from Sunday until the completion of examinations.”
It further said third-term assessments (annual examinations) for all classes will continue from Sunday. Future programmes will be announced after discussions between the two councils.
Earlier, assistant teachers had enforced a nationwide “complete shutdown” in all government primary schools from 3 December. The programme was later suspended amid widespread criticism and protests.
