School Teacher Suspended for Facebook Post Against Ministry Advisor
An assistant teacher from a government primary school has been temporarily suspended for posting derogatory remarks on Facebook targeting Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, Advisor to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, along with other senior ministry officials. The accused teacher, Monibul Haq Bosunia, serves at Abul Kashem Girls’ Government Primary School in Rajarhat Upazila, Kurigram district.
The suspension was announced in an office order issued on Saturday, May 17, signed by Kurigram District Primary Education Officer Swapan Kumar Roy Chowdhury. Later that afternoon, he confirmed the matter to *The Daily Campus*, stating, “The teacher has been temporarily suspended for posting derogatory comments on social media. An office order has been issued in this regard.”
The office order from the Kurigram District Primary Education Office states, “Monibul Haq Bosunia, an assistant teacher at Abul Kashem Girls’ Government Primary School in Rajarhat Upazila, Kurigram, posted derogatory remarks on his personal Facebook account (Monibul Haq Bosunia) targeting the Advisor to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and other senior authorities. Such posts on social media have tarnished the government’s image.”
The order further notes that the teacher’s actions violated clauses 7(d) and 10(e)(f) of the *Guidelines for the Use of Social Media in Government Institutions-2019 (Revised Edition)*. Consequently, under Rule 3(b) of the *Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018*, he has been charged with misconduct and temporarily suspended from government service. During the suspension period, he will be entitled to a subsistence allowance as per regulations. The order is effective from the date of issuance.
