The TESOL Society of Bangladesh, in collaboration with Daffodil International University (DIU), has announced the much-anticipated TESOL BD-DIU International Conference 2025, themed “Bridging Divides: Human-Centred Language Education in the Age of AI and Social Transformation.” Scheduled for 5–6 December 2025 at Daffodil International University in Dhaka, the conference will offer both on-site and virtual participation options. The event is being jointly organised with generous support from the British Council Bangladesh and the American Center, U.S. Embassy Dhaka.

A highlight of the event is the Pre-Conference Event (PCE) on 4 December 2025, featuring a Quick-Fire Round for students (BA, MA, MPhil, PhD) to showcase innovative ideas on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language education. This platform aims to inspire young researchers to contribute to the evolving field of English language teaching and learning.

The TESOL BD-DIU International Conference 2025 seeks to unite global scholars, educators, and practitioners to explore the integration of AI in language education while preserving its human-centric essence. The event will foster critical discussions on how language education can promote social cohesion, cultural preservation, and global understanding amidst rapid technological advancements and societal changes.

The conference has already garnered significant global interest, receiving around 400 abstracts from researchers, educators, and practitioners worldwide. Participants will engage through paper presentations, workshops, symposia, and poster sessions. Selected papers will be published in a Special Issue of the TESOL Bangladesh Journal, offering a prestigious platform for academic recognition and global dissemination of impactful research. The event will feature two distinguished keynote speakers from the United States and the United Kingdom. Professor Dr. Gary Motteram, Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Manchester Institute of Education, The University of Manchester, UK, will grace the conference as a keynote speaker. Additionally, plenary and featured speakers from over ten countries, including the USA, UK, India, Nepal, and others, will contribute to making this a truly global academic gathering.

These details were shared during a “Meet the Press” event held today at Professor Aminul Islam Hall, Daffodil International University, Birulia, Savar, Dhaka. Professor Dr. M R Kabir, Vice Chancellor of DIU, and Professor Dr. Sayeedur Rahman, Institute of Modern Languages, University of Dhaka, Convener of the TESOL BD-DIU International Conference 2025 and Advisor to the TESOL Society of Bangladesh, presented the written statements. The event was attended by Dr. Mohammed Nadir Bin Ali, Registrar of DIU, and addressed by Professor Dr. Liza Sharmin, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), DIU, and Advisor to the conference; Professor A M M Hamidur Rahman, Department of English, DIU, and Advisor to the conference; Shamresh Saha, Senior Programme Manager, English and School Education, British Council; and Dr. Ehatasham Ul Hoque Eiten, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of English, DIU, and Co-convener of the conference.

Building on the success of its previous two international conferences, organised in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Ministry of Education, and the International Mother Language Institute (IMLI), the TESOL Society of Bangladesh has earned widespread acclaim from academics and practitioners globally. This year’s conference, hosted in partnership with DIU—a globally recognised institution featured in the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings—is poised to be one of the largest academic events in Bangladesh in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT).

The TESOL Society of Bangladesh extends a warm invitation to educators, researchers, and practitioners to join this dynamic international forum and contribute to shaping the future of human-centred language education in the era of AI.
